My First Blog Post

Welcome to my first financial blog post ever! I’m excited to begin posting frequently and share my thoughts, investments, and journey to financial freedom with you all. For greater insight on how I view investing and the types of companies I look for, I recommend taking a look at some articles I’ve written on my Seeking Alpha page.

The core of my overall investment thesis is dividend growth investing. This time-tested, alpha-producing approach allows me to clearly visualize the gains in my stock positions and blocks out the day-to-day noise that induces investor emotions. Currently at the age of 29, I hope to compound the returns from my DGI (dividend growth investing) positions and retire early. My long-term goal is to obtain annual dividend income of $100,000, at which point I may be able to begin considering a major change in my career and rely less on income from typical employment.

My dividend income is tracked across all of my portfolios (taxable accounts and IRAs, not 401k’s). A large portion of the target $100,000 will be produced within retirement accounts and thus not easily accessible during early retirement; however, I will aim to maintain a 33% proportion of dividend income in my taxable account. With this level of dividend income and adhering to the 4% rule on the overall taxable account size, I will be able to reasonably consider a change in career into a more part-time role or pursue other methods of income until I am able to access retirement funds. Meanwhile, my retirement accounts will continue to build and grow until I’m ready to begin taking distributions to fund my retirement. Tracking of funds and dividends from my recurring 401(K) contributions are not included in these articles as the fund options available to me do not paint a clear picture on income and distributions.

As I continue to build this site, I will be adding a real-time tracker for new purchases, dividend reinvestments, and dividend increases across my portfolio to visualize my daily progress towards the end goal. Additionally, I will add my goals page to show my goals not only for dividend income but also for net worth and Seeking Alpha followers.

Recurring detailed updates on my projected forward dividend income are on their way, but for now please refer to my completely transparent real portfolio that is updated at the end of every month.

I welcome any comments or suggestions openly so please provide feedback if you have any!
